IB Art Course Description

In IB Studio Art, students learn to think about art as a process of research;  making art as a way to explore ideas, make connections and create new understandings. Students develop a research question driven by their own interests, and use the year to explore this question through drawing, sculpture, multi-media, discussion, and writing. Each student makes between 10-20 pieces of art in any media they choose.

A fundamental aspect of the class is the research workbook, where students document their investigations and reflections in the form of sketches, images and writing. All students taking the IB exam will plan an individual exhibition of their body of work to be shown during Spring semester. Students will have the option to take the SL level IB Exam in the first year of the course, or the HL level IB exam in the spring of their second year. This course is open to juniors and seniors only.
